About This Web Site
Visitors, as well as resident Alaskans, often find themselves looking for Alaska-themed gifts to send to relatives and friends back home, or just to keep for themselves. And there are plenty of gift shops available in almost every town, full of souvenir items you can buy. But then, how do you get those treasures safely home, in your already-full luggage, undamaged? And/or get them delivered to their intended recipients?
That is where Gifts From Alaska comes in with a win-win solution, using print-on-demand suppliers. You can have all the convenience of online purchase and delivery, while still supporting a real local Alaskan person. Your purchases will be sent directly to your gift-ees, or back home to you. And if you decide you want more items later, that's easy - you don't have to come back to Alaska to get them. Although it is a good excuse.
All products featured on this site are designed by me. They are not available anywhere else. I will be continuing to add more designs, so if you like my stuff, add a bookmark and check back once in a while to see what's new.
About Me
If you are like me, when you visit a website you want to know a few things about it: Who is behind this site? Why did they make it? If they are selling something, who benefits? And I hate it when those questions are not answered! So on my site I will answer them.
My name is Josh Klauder. I have lived in Alaska since 1978. Like many Alaskans, I have a very mixed resume, including whitewater oarsman, wilderness guide, homesteader, dog musher, bookmobile operator, commercial fisherman, author, carpenter (everybody in Alaska is a carpenter), ditch digger, kennel handler (aka poop scooper)... the list goes on. And while doing the above things, I started building websites as soon as web sites existed - and I still can't believe that was about thirty years ago! It always surprises people to learn that a web geek named Josh is not in his twenties, or even thirties, but turning seventy in 2024. It surprises the hell out of me - and I have had a very long time to see it coming! I am now mostly retired from building web sites*.
But I am not retired from needing money, and a creative challenge. Which brings me to this project, Gifts from Alaska.
Thanks for clicking through!

*Mostly retired, which means now I get to be picky. If you have a project you think I would find interesting, it doesn't hurt to ask me.
